Friday and the Randoms

I just wanted to pop on really quickly to share random…new photos I managed to shoot last weekend (btw…what do you suggest…should I use my stationery business logo for the watermarks? or a simple signature?) and I have no doubt that I’ll snap a few more since a couple of friends arrived yesterday for the weekend.

We’ll be hitting the city today for some brick oven pizza a la Lombardi’s

and (hopefully) some rice pudding from Rice to Riches!

and then hopping the train over to Brooklyn for some cherry blossom love at the Botanical Gardens

and after that there’s even more eating (of course) at Peter Luger….

I’m hoping that the weather holds up for tomorrow so that we can stroll along the paths at Central Park

and grab a sweet thing or two from Bouchon Bakery (I want to just finally try a macaron!!!)….

Do any of you have a favorite and must see spot in the Big Apple?  Share!

*** Thank you to my friend, Cass, and her daughter, Sweet P, for being my photo-snapping/exploring/learning partner, as well as patient models ^o^

Bridal Inspiration: Cherry Blossoms

Cherry Blossoms at Ninnaji Temple (Kyoto, Japan)

It’s that time of year again!  Cherry blossom season has begun!  And, the celebration taking place in Washington, DC is the Centennial Celebration!

In 1912, over three thousand cherry blossom trees were shipped to Washington, DC – a gift given on behalf of Tokyo by Yukio Ozaki and Jokichi Takamine.  Now, one hundred years later…people still enjoy the calm beauty and gently drifts of the cherry blossoms that surround the Tidal Basin.  (Read more about the Cherry Blossom Festival and the history of this wondrous gift from Japan here.)

Before I continue on to my bridal inspiration board, here is a list of cherry blossom festivals to help celebrate life…friendship…and spring!

And, here we are…at today’s Wedding Wednesday inspiration board…I hope you enjoy!

Dreamers into Doers in the Big Apple!

Two years ago today, BrainFry was born…and eleven months ago, I joined the Martha Stewart’s Dreamers Into Doers (DiD) community – a network comprised of mostly women who dream big and do the things necessary in order to see their dreams come into fruition.

In December of 2011, there was a big rush to win a spot (or ticket) to attend the annual DiD event held at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (MSLO) in New York City.  I remember waking up early and spamming the refresh button with the fervent hope that I would win one of the 80 spots.  Weeks later, I whooped with excitement when lo and behold…there sat THE e-mail with the much hoped for invitation.

Fast-forward…the event was held over the course of the last two days (March 6th and 7th) and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to have met a few of the many talented ladies who traveled the distance to attend this Dreamers event.

Jessica and Stephanie (the HopeFULL Company)

Sarah (Dreamers Joy), Janet (Sweet Temptations) and Khaliah (The Party Muse)

Not only were we given the opportunity to share our experiences as small business owners with each other, but we were welcomed into MSLO by quite a number of Martha’s staff – Darcy Miller (Editorial Director of MS Weddings), Inbar Barak (Product Development) and Meesha Haddad (General Manager, Editorial Operations) to name a few – and we were offered the opportunity to absorb a wealth of information that related directly to how to grow our small business through social media and digital marketing.  I personally gained a lot of insight from the presentations of Terri Shapiro (Deluxe Corporation), Bryan Petroff & Douglas Quint (Big Gay Ice Cream).

Between and during presentations, the MSLO staff – excellent host and hostesses – made sure that we were fed; thereby, avoiding a stampede of hungry women *lol*.

Here, I will end the coverage of Day One at MSLO!  Stay tuned for more…photographs from the Martha Stewart Show taping and the second day of MS DiD 2012!
